JAZZDecember 13, 1991 – January 20, 2006
|
On a bitterly cold January day in 1994, a brindle greyhound came out of his kennel, gently placed his head in my lap and captured my heart. His gentle, loving and sweet personality won over everyone he met. He was the reason that Ohio Greyhound Placement was formed. He became our Good Will Ambassador, always happy and willing to make new friends.
As the years passed, he always kept his good nature, played with the grandchildren, tolerated new puppies and always welcomed new greyhounds into his home.
On another cold January day, 12 years later, he again laid his head in my lap while we said our final goodbyes. The time we have with our beloved companions is never long enough; Jazz will be greatly missed.

“If it should be that I grow frail and weak And pain should wake me from my sleep Then you must do what must be done For this last battle can’t be won You will be sad, I understand Don’t let your grief stay your hand For this day, more than the rest Your love and friendship stand the test We’ve had so many years What is to come will hold no fears You’d not want me to suffer, so When the time comes, please let me go I know in time you too will see It is a kindness you do for me Although my tail its last has waived From pain and suffering I’ve been saved Do not grieve that it should be you Who has to decide this thing to do We’ve been close all these years Don’t let your heart hold any tears” |
